Michael Mosteller II is running for the West Virginia House of Delegates to represent District 21 in Putnam County, and his journey to this decision reflects a deep personal connection to the issues facing his community. As a husband and father of two, Michael and his family chose to make Putnam County their home after witnessing the devastating impacts of the opioid crisis and a declining education system in rural West Virginia, where he grew up.

Michael’s campaign is driven by a passion for restoring the rights and dignity of the people of West Virginia. He firmly believes in protecting the ability of individuals to make their own decisions, especially regarding reproductive health. In response to recent legislative moves that restrict access to abortion, Michael is committed to fighting for the restoration of women’s reproductive rights. He believes the role of government is to represent its citizens—not to dictate their personal choices.

Education is another key focus of Michael’s platform. He has seen firsthand how West Virginia’s ranking at the bottom of the national education system affects families and future generations. Inspired by the teachers’ movement, 55 Strong, Michael is determined to invest in teachers and public schools, pushing back against efforts to privatize education. He believes in strengthening public education, not letting it be shaped by outside interests.
